2 Injured When Limousine Hits Car
A Camarillo couple were injured after a limousine rear-ended their car on the Ventura Freeway at Hampshire Road, police said.
Martin Ettinger, 77, and his wife, Mitzi, 76, were traveling northbound just before midnight Saturday in a 1999 Volvo when they were hit by a 1987 Mercury stretch limousine driven by Mark Doolan, 42, of Camarillo, said Sgt. Bob Dickie of the California Highway Patrol.
Dickie said the Volvo skidded to the shoulder and flipped over. The limousine crossed the northbound lanes and stopped on the right shoulder near the Hampshire Road onramp.
The limousine then drove away and was stopped at the Borchard Road offramp, authorities said. Doolan was arrested on suspicion of felony drunk driving and hit-and-run, Dickie said.
Martin Ettinger, who had a broken wrist and cuts to his head, was in critical but stable condition Sunday at Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks. His wife was in fair but stable condition, said a hospital spokeswoman.
