Nextlink Names Local VP-General Manager
Read Clarke has been named vice president and general manager of Santa Ana-based Nextlink’s Los Angeles and Orange County markets. He was formerly vice president, marketing. Before joining the telecommunications company in January, Clarke held senior-level positions with AirTouch Cellular, Mutual Signal and Sprint.

Karen Bouslog has been named vice president, business development officer for Sunwest Bank in Tustin. She was previously vice president, relationship manager for Pacific National Bank, and held positions with Eldorado Bank, CommerceBank and Security Pacific Bank.

Francis X. Rodgers has joined ARV Assisted Living Inc. in Costa Mesa as regional vice president in charge of the company’s Southern California operations. Rodgers had been divisional vice president for the Southwest division of Life Care Centers of America in Cleveland. He has also been director of operations for Guardian Health Group in Corte Madera, and was regional vice president of operations for Regency Health Services in Tustin.

Anne Grey has been appointed executive director for the Orange County chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation in Newport Beach. She had been director of development at Santa Margarita Catholic High School.

Bill Nelson has been elected to the board of directors of the Escrow Agents’ Fidelity Corp., which indemnifies the public from embezzlement and disappearance of trust funds held by licenses escrow agents. Nelson is executive vice president of Express Escrow in Huntington Beach.

Joey Carnes is the new president of Irvine-based Bax Global’s U.S. and Canadian operations. C. Robert Campbell, president and chief executive of BAX Global, had been acting president, U.S. during the company’s search for a candidate. Carnes was formerly executive vice president of North America at Fritz Companies Inc.
* Scott Whitcup has been selected as Irvine-based Allergan Inc.’s vice president, ophthalmology therapeutic area. He will assume his duties in January. Currently, Whitcup is clinical director of ophthalmology at the National Eye Institute of the National Institutes of Health.

Steven E. Oblen has been named director, ultrasound sales operations and business development for Toshiba America Medical Systems in Tustin. Before joining the company two years ago, Oblen was the marketing manager of the medical vendor division of Norwest Financial Leasing in Irvine. Prior to that, he worked for Honeywell Health Care Services in Los Angeles as a senior account executive.

Bruce E. Bartram, Andrew M. Sussman and James L. Meier have joined the law firm of Hart, King & Coldren in Santa Ana. Bartram was formerly with Shane K. Thever & Associates in Los Angeles, where he specialized in municipal law. Sussman had been with Barclay Law Corp. in Newport Beach. Meier specializes in business, real estate and construction litigation.
