Crash Victim Dies
A 5-year-old Huntington Beach girl struck by a car Tuesday has died of her injuries, authorities said.
Lucia Garcia died Thursday morning at UCI Medical Center in Orange, where she had been undergoing treatment, police said.
The girl and her grandmother were walking along Slater Avenue near Jacquelin Street when the child darted into traffic and was struck by a car, investigators said. Huntington Beach Police officer Mark Hanson was hailed by his colleagues as a hero for performing first aid on the unconscious girl until paramedics arrived.
