Reseda Landlord Fined $14,260
A Northridge man was ordered to pay $14,260 after pleading no contest to charges his apartment building in Reseda was unsafe and in disrepair, Los Angeles City Atty. Jim Hahn said Thursday.
Camillo Mazzeo, 46, was sentenced Wednesday by Los Angeles Municipal Court Commissioner Kristi Lousteau for 10 violations of fire, health, building and safety codes at the 20-unit apartment house at 7820 Baird Ave.
Mazzeo must make repairs at the two-story stucco building by Nov. 30 or face further punishment, said Deputy City Atty. Rubin Harsoyo.
The prosecutor said Mazzeo was charged after the city’s Slum Housing Task Force inspected the apartment building between April and June.
Inspectors found cockroach infestation, broken doors and windows, leaking faucets, missing smoke detectors, illegal electrical wiring, unmonitored fire extinguishers, and damage to walls, floors and ceilings.
