Ex-Teacher’s Lawsuit Award Appealed
The Ventura County superintendent of schools has filed an appeal in the case that awarded $572,000 to a former teacher who sued administrators for firing him after he complained about understaffing.
Robert LeVine, 50, filed a wrongful-termination lawsuit against the office of the superintendent, Supt. Charles Weis and other school administrators three years ago after he was dismissed for not reporting for work for several days.
Other defendants who have appealed are Assistant Supt. Sandra Shackelford, Personnel Director Cary Dritz, and Dale Strayhorn, principal of the county’s McBride School at the Ventura County Juvenile Hall, where LeVine worked.
