EarthLink Network will roll out high-speed Internet access using digital-subscriber-line technology in four cities today. The service, which allows users to download data about seven times faster than with standard dial-up modems, will be available in Los Angeles, New York, Dallas and Charlotte, N.C., with prices starting at $49.95 a month. Pasadena-based EarthLink plans to make the DSL service available nationwide. The service is being made available through partnerships with UUNet Technologies, a division of MCI WorldCom; GTE; Pacific Bell; and Sprint. EarthLink shares rose $2.88 to close at $45.13 in Nasdaq trading Wednesday.
