Rezulin Cited in Suit by ’58 Derby Winner

The 1958 winner of the Kentucky Derby, Ismael Valenzuela, and his children sued Warner-Lambert Co. and its various subsidiaries in Los Angeles, alleging his wife died as a result of taking the prescription diabetes drug Rezulin. According to the complaint, 63-year-old Rosa Valenzuela died of sudden liver failure on Dec. 18, 1998, allegedly because of her body’s reaction to Rezulin.
