County representatives and members of the Army Corps of Engineers are putting together a study on the environmental health of Newport Bay and the San Diego Creek. “We want a healthy watershed in Newport Bay,†county representative Kathie Matsuyama said. The study will address the protection of the surrounding habitats, flood protection, water quality improvements and the reduction of erosion. A public meeting is set for 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Irvine Ranch Water District in the Michelson Treatment Plant Multipurpose Room, 3512 Michelson Ave.
