Palisades Wins City Volleyball Title

Palisades High won its third consecutive City Section girls’ volleyball title with a 15-8, 6-15, 16-14, 15-10 victory over Sylmar Friday night at Eagle Rock.
It was the 21st City title for the Dolphins.
Opposite hitter Lauren Carter of Palisades (16-1) led all hitters with 28 kills and three aces.
Kassandra Jimenez led Sylmar with 17 kills and a match-high 18 blocks.
Neither team led by more than three points in game three. Palisaded trailed, 14-13, but got two aces from Carter and a kill by Jennifer Badran-Grycan to take a 2-1 lead in games.
Marshall def. Granada Hills, 15-7, 15-9, 15-11--The top-seeded Barristers beat the second-seeded Highlanders to win the City’s Invitational division at Occidental.
Torrance Bishop Montgomery def. North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake, 15-8, 13-15, 15-10, 15-9--Katie Olsovsky delivered eight of her 21 kills in the fourth game and Bishop Montgomery won the Southern Section Division III-AA championship at Cypress College. Cerina Pele added 17 kills for the top-seeded Knights (28-3), who won their third Southern Section championship in four years.
San Juan Capistrano St. Margaret’s def. Palos Verdes Chadwick, 14-16, 15-11, 6-15, 15-9, 15-10--Allison Bendush had 25 kills and 15 digs to lead the Tartans (19-1) in the Division V-AA final.
TENNIS
Granada Hills defeated Carson, 4-3, to win the City Section girls’ tennis championship at Warner Center Tennis Club. Granada Hills (16-0) had won 125 out of 126 sets heading into the final.
Fairfax 4, Van Nuys 3--Freshman Yelena Olshanskaya defeated Diana Friedland, 2-6, 6-2, 7-5, in No. 1 singles to give the Lions the Invitational title.
