It’s nice that Mike Garrett has come out publicly to support his coach for next year. But what makes Garrett so sure that he’ll be back?

That’s it! I’ve had USC season tickets for 39 years and cannot attend one more game.

Bottom line for the losing season goes back to the Oregon game when Carson Palmer lowered his shoulder into the defensive back instead of running out of bounds or sliding.

The reason USC is barely playing at the Division I-A level is because, with a few notable exceptions, that is the level of recruiting by John Robinson and staff. Paul Hackett deserves two to three more years to recruit and develop players who can play the game. He seems to have done well with the first class, but he doesn’t have enough actual players to make a difference yet.

For how many years will this go on? It’s the same thing every August. The L.A. Times accepts the psycho-babble coming out of USC and heralds the awesome speed, power, experience, agility and esprit-de-corps of the current Trojan football team.

So what happens? Every year the USC football players believe this stuff and go out and get their butts kicked.

Mike Garrett and President Steven Sample should be fired for this whole athletic fiasco at USC that has been going on for years. Garrett’s only claim to fame is a trophy in 1965. Sample came from Massachusetts. They just don’t get it.
