High Court OKs Einhorn Extradition

France’s Supreme Court has ruled that U.S. counterculture guru Ira Einhorn should be returned to the United States to stand trial for the murder of his girlfriend in Philadelphia more than two decades ago. In Philadelphia, City Dist. Atty. Lynne Abraham, the prosecutor who would oversee the case against Einhorn, 58, welcomed the news but said Einhorn could run from French authorities while his lawyers move to exhaust his final appeals. The French court’s decision left one final hurdle before Einhorn is extradited--approval from Prime Minister Lionel Jospin, which is expected to be granted as a matter of routine.
