Bodies of Miners in Blast Recovered

Rescuers have recovered the bodies of at least 39 miners killed in an underground gas explosion, Ukrainian officials said. Another 48 workers were hospitalized with injuries from Monday’s blast, including two miners in grave condition, said a spokeswoman at the State Work Safety Committee in Donetsk. The methane gas blast occurred at a depth of about 4,125 feet. Officials said 551 miners were working at the time of the explosion. All the miners including the dead and injured were brought to the surface.
