Ceremony to Honor Fallen Officers

The Peace Officers Assn. of Ventura County on Tuesday will honor local officers who died in the line of duty, including a sheriff’s deputy who died in a traffic accident last year.
The annual ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. at the Peace Officers Memorial at the Ventura County Government Center. Sheriff Bob Brooks will be among the speakers.
The ceremony will include a special tribute to Senior Sheriff’s Deputy Lisa Whitney, whose name is the 29th to be added to the memorial.
Whitney, a sex-crimes investigator, was killed last August in a Ventura auto accident.
National Police Memorial Day was May 15.
