* A leading example of the decline of Ventura Boulevard (“Beautifying the Boulevard,” May 2) can be found at Hayvenhurst Avenue. Where cars were once sold has been transformed into something resembling a parking lot. Facing most of Ventura Boulevard is an urban tomb with crypt-like, windowless walls. . . . About the only sign of life is at Starbucks.
