Valley Secession

Fred Okrand’s May 6 letter regarding secession costs overlooks the real issue. Those of us who live in Hollywood, San Pedro, Venice and other communities, as well as the Valley, are not chattel of the city of Los Angeles. If the costs relating to secession are high, it is because the city is contesting. If we have to dip into our treasury so be it. After all, it is our money too.
Those of us who want out as well as those who don’t can vote on the issue as soon as it appears on the ballot. There should be no reason why we cannot have an amicable and civilized divorce. We’re all grown up now, aren’t we?
