Producer Trevor Horn is in the studio in England with the original members of Genesis--the lineup that includes both Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins--to record a new track for the group’s upcoming “best of” compilation. “Amazing” is all Horn would say recently when asked about the group’s efforts so far.

In between dealing with the fallout of his alleged assault on an Interscope Records executive, Sean “Puffy” Combs (in his Puff Daddy guise) is starting work on his follow-up to his smash 1997 album “No Way Out.” It’s tentatively scheduled to be released in August--though depending on how things go with his legal situation, the promotional campaign could be on Court TV rather than MTV. . . .

For a musical number on his next comedy album, Adam Sandler recently recorded a song with some of the musicians who had been the regulars for Frank Sinatra in the same Capitol Records studio that hosted many of Ol’ Blue Eyes’ classic recordings. Sandler’s album is due in September from Warner Bros. . . .

Kenny G matched his smooth sax with the original vocals of Louis Armstrong for a new version of “What a Wonderful World,” a centerpiece for a collection of standards due June 29, titled “Classics in the Key of G.” The album will also serve to launch the Kenny G Miracle Foundation, a new charity focusing on school music and arts development and other youth-oriented programs.
