Senior, Track and Field
Butler improved her career-best distance in the javelin by nearly eight feet. She finished fourth at the Occidental Invitational Saturday with a throw of 131 feet 6 inches.
Butler ranks eighth among Big West Conference competitors in the javelin.
THIS WEEK
Golf: Senior Mike Lawrence has been selected to compete as an individual May 20-22 at the NCAA West Regional in Tucson. Lawrence’s stroke average is 75.34 through 35 rounds this season.
Track and field: Irvine had 21 season-bests Saturday at the Occidental Invitational, including junior Robert Frichtel’s 3 minutes 53.11 seconds in the 1,500 meters. He finished eighth.
Women’s basketball: Elizabeth Sircia has been hired as an assistant coach. She has been an assistant at Cal Poly Pomona the last five seasons. She replaces Jeff Dow, who is now an assistant at Texas San Antonio. Irvine assistant Francine Moreno resigned this week to also take a position at Texas San Antonio.
