Davis Makes Decision Today

UCLA sophomore Baron Davis has called a news conference for noon today to announce whether he will declare himself eligible for the NBA draft.
It has been expected that Davis will leave school early to turn pro, but he expressed uncertainty in recent weeks. He could not be reached for comment Tuesday.
Coach Steve Lavin met with his star player Tuesday afternoon but declined to say what Davis’ decision would be.
“It’s his special day,” Lavin said. “I gave him my word I wouldn’t say anything.”
An all-Pacific 10 Conference guard last season, Davis averaged 15.9 points, 5.2 assists and 2.3 steals for the Bruins. NBA scouts predict he will be a top-10 pick.
