OXNARD — Police evacuated about 2,500 students and staff from Channel Islands High School on Tuesday morning after school officials reported finding suspicious-looking, bomb-like devices on campus.
The Sheriff’s Department bomb squad located four devices that appeared to contain explosives, and loaded them into a “bomb bucket” for transportation to another site to be X-rayed, according to David Keith, public information officer for the Oxnard Police Department.
Keith did not know whether the devices actually contained explosives.
“They certainly look like bombs, but we won’t know for sure until the tests come back,” Keith said.
