L.A. Designer on List of Leading Black Firms

Los Angeles-based clothing designer Karl Kani Infinity Inc. and 19 other California firms rank among the nation’s leading African American-owned businesses, according to Black Enterprise magazine’s latest report on the the nation’s largest black companies.
The apparel design and manufacturing concern posted sales of $65 million in 1998, earning it the No. 40 spot on the magazine’s list of 100 top industrial and service firms.
San Juan Capistrano-based Family Automotive Group was the state’s leading auto dealership, coming in at No. 3 on the magazine’s list of the nation’s 100 largest black-owned car dealers with $192 million in sales last year.
Muse Cordero Chen & Partners Inc. was the Southland’s largest black-owned advertising firm, with $55 million in 1998 billings and a No. 6 ranking on Black Enterprise’s list of America’s 20 biggest African American ad agencies.
