The Encino B’nai B’rith Bagel Brigade needs volunteers to pick up bagels, breads and pastries. Participants deliver the baked goods to Valley schools, mental health centers, needy families, battered women, abused children, senior citizens and the homeless. The San Fernando Valley Literacy Council needs English as a Second Language and literacy tutors for adults. Training will be held from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday and May 22 at the United Methodist Church of Sepulveda, 15435 Rayen St. in North Hills. Training books cost $25.
