After the Beep, Please Share Your Maternal Worries

Now I wish I’d saved my favorite phone messages from my mother, most of which began with, “This is your mother.”
Amy Borkowsky did save her “mom calls.” The comedian has been compiling them since the ‘80s. Considering that her mother averages two to four calls a day, Borkowsky has plenty of mudder fodder for her first album, titled “Amy’s Answering Machine CD, Volume 1: Messages From Mom.” Samples: “Don’t wear a red robe when you get the mail--red is a gang color”; “Don’t wear headphones--they breed bacteria.”
Yes, the album has mother’s blessings--and advice. “I just want to remind you to be very wary of any record company whose plans include releasing it on eight-track. I hear that eight-track is no good because it’s getting harder to find the player.”
