Villa Park, Canyon win--Villa Park’s Christopher Greene and Chris Meyer each won two events to help the Spartans win the boys’ league title.
It was the seventh league title under Coach Jeff Ehrlich, who coached his last meet after 25 seasons at Villa Park. He will coach water polo at Air Force next season.
Although the Foothill girls’ team won the meet with 421 points, Canyon placed second with 396 points and won the league title because of its 5-0 record during league meets.
Erin Volcan, the co-most valuable swimmer with Orange’s Shannon Flahive, won the 200 freestyle in 1:54.80 and the 100 backstroke in 59.81.
In the Pacific Coast League:
Herr, Hayes win twice--Laguna Hills’ Dan Herr posted section qualifying times in the 100 Butterfly (53.09) and 200 Freestyle (1:46.14).
University’s Jessica Hayes won the girls’ 200 freestyle (1:50.95) and the 100 backstroke (56.65). In the Freeway League finals:
Sunny Hills, Troy win--Ahmed Hussein won the 100 backstroke in 54.73, a meet record, to lead Sunny Hills to the boys’ title. Troy’s Annette Vayo won the 50 freestyle (24.89) and the 100 backstroke (59.93), to lead the Warriors to the girls’ title.
