In other meets:

Golden League finals--Junior Rosanna Kirkendall of Lancaster won the 1,600 in 5:33.2, the 800 in 2:27.5 and the 3,200 in 12:03.2 at Quartz Hill.

“She ran a smart race in windy conditions,” Lancaster girls’ Coach Dawn Dzivban said of Kirkendall’s 1,600. “She trains really hard. Anything you tell her to do, she does. I really enjoy coaching her.”

Junior Kristen Robinson of Littlerock won the girls’ 100 high hurdles in a season best of 15.4 and the 300 lows in a season best of 48.9.

Junior Jerrick Holmes of Palmdale won the boys’ high jump at 6-4 after clearing a school record of 6-10 to win the Mt. San Antonio Colleges Relays on April 17.

Joe Gocong of Lancaster also cleared 6-4, but placed second because it took him two attempts to Holmes’ one.

Gocong passed Daniel Cobian of Palmdale in the last five yards to win the 800 in 2:06.6.

Cobian, who finished second in 2:07.0, won the 1,600 in 4:43.8 and the 3,200 in 10:42.1.

“My strategy was to let [Cobian] run his own race and make sure I had enough left to finish strong,” Gocong said. “I almost made my move too late.”

Sophomore Marcus Raines of Littlerock won the 110 high hurdles in a wind-aided 14.4 and the 300 intermediates in 40.1 for his second consecutive titles in those events.

Jamaal Willis of Littlerock won the shotput at 45-0 to hand runner-up Tim Selby of Quartz Hill his first loss to a league opponent this season.

Senior Mentu Daniel won the 400 in 49.3 to finish ahead of Holmes, who ran 51.6.

Kassandra Harrell of Quartz Hill won the girls’ shotput in 40-2, five inches short of her personal best.

Quartz Hill swept the first three spots in the girls’ pole vault with junior Cheryl Baird edging teammate Dawn Dvorak by virtue of less misses at 8-feet. Sharon Baird, Cheryl’s twin, was third at 7-6.
