Longtime L.A. denizen Tom Waits moved to Northern California years ago, but he remains a favorite son in SoCal. His first album in six years registered at No. 30 on the national sales chart, but it entered at No. 8 among Southern California sellers. Meantime, the nation’s No. 1 album, the rap compilation from the Ruff Ryders, finished No. 3 in the area.
