Probation for Boy

* Re “Boy, 10, Spared Imprisonment in Killing of Brother,” April 28: We were shocked that the only consequences of killing his brother were that the killer “attend school and earn satisfactory grades and obey his mother and probation officer. He also is prohibited from leaving his home between the hours of 6 p.m. and 6 a.m.” Except for obeying his probation officer, these are the same rules we apply to our 14-year-old son who has broken no rules. What parents would want this 10-year-old killer sitting next to their child in school?
