Alyson Edoff
Golden West, Freshman
Swimming
Edoff, from Orange High, had several key performances as Golden West won its first state title in women’s swimming. She set a Golden West record in the 500-yard freestyle, finishing second in 5 minutes 3.44 seconds. She also won the 100 freestyle, was second in the 200 freestyle and anchored four winning relay teams, including the 200 medley relay, which set a state record (1:38.51).
Brian Miller
Saddleback, Freshman
Golf
Miller, from Madras, Oregon, was the hottest player in the Orange Empire Conference the second half of the year. He opened the conference championship with a one-over 73, then followed with a 69 to win the individual title by five shots at Singing Hills Country Club in El Cajon. It was the fifth consecutive match in which he was the medalist. Miller was the conference player of the year.
