The Troy High School Science Bowl team finished among the top eight schools Monday at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Science Bowl in Washington. The team, in its first appearance in the national tournament, beat more than 1,700 other teams and earned the nickname “the Cinderella team” for its better-than-expected finish; the five-student team tied for seventh place. The contest consisted of 20-minute rounds in which students buzzed in to answer questions in biology, physics, chemistry and astronomy.
