VAN NUYS — Safe driving has earned the San Fernando Valley Community Mental Health Center an $11,047 cash award from an insurance pool serving nonprofit organizations.
The Non Profits United Vehicle Insurance Pool, the state’s oldest transportation self-insurance pool for nonprofits, honored the center for not having any accidents from July 1, 1995, to June 30, 1996.
Each year, the center based in Van Nuys transports about 10,000 clients to its 16 mental health programs throughout the San Fernando, Santa Clarita and Antelope valleys.
The award, presented last week at a luncheon honoring the center, will go into the center’s general fund to be dispersed among programs serving low-income children and adults, said Dorie Paley, director of public relations.
