MIAMI — Fernando Vina hit a two-run homer in the top of the 13th inning to give the Milwaukee Brewers a 6-4 victory over Florida on Monday night before 8,628, the smallest Marlins crowd at Pro Player Stadium.
Archie Corbin (0-1) walked Rich Becker leading off the inning and Vina hit a 3-2 pitch over the right-field wall for his first home run.
Milwaukee improved to 10-0 all-time against Florida. The Marlins have lost six in a row games and nine of 10.
Bob Wickman (1-1) pitched two scoreless innings for the victory. He struck out Luis Castillo with the tying runs on base to end the game.
Marquis Grissom’s broken-bat single off Florida reliever Braden Looper drove in Jeromy Burnitz and Sean Berry with the tying runs in the eighth.
AROUND THE MAJORS / Detroit’s Moehler Punished
The American League has suspended Detroit pitcher Brian Moehler for 10 games, two days after Moehler was ejected from a game against Tampa Bay by umpire Larry Barnett, who said the right-hander doctored baseballs with sandpaper. Moehler said it was not sandpaper and that it was dirt, but he does not plan to appeal. Barnett, the plate umpire, said he found a small piece of sandpaper attached to the pitcher’s left thumb.

A judge cleared former Angel Tony Phillips of felony drug charges Monday, ending a story that started two years ago.
Under a program for first-time offenders, Phillips pleaded guilty to one count of felony cocaine possession, the charge subject to dismissal if he completed drug counseling and subsequently stayed drug-free for a year.
In accordance with that agreement, Phillips’ attorney, Allan Stokke, withdrew the guilty plea Monday. North Orange County Municipal Court Judge Robert Keefe then dismissed the charge.
