In Defense of Teenagers

I’m 16, and I am irritated that some adults assume violent movies equal vicious adolescents. I have watched action-saturated movies like “Face/Off” and “Basketball Diaries,” but I have never worn a black trench coat and never contemplated shooting my peers.
Adults need to look at themselves for why some teenagers are so violent. It may not seem like it, but teenagers do look up to their parents as their role models. If they don’t get attention, violence may be one way for them to be finally noticed. Besides this, depression is diagnosed in a majority of teenagers.
Video games and movies have some influence on children, but it is not the main focus. Remember, allegedly only two are responsible for the [Colorado] shootings. Not the entire group of adolescents are evil and should be deprived of all sources of entertainment. Many teenagers do have a conscience and can make valid choices. Isn’t that scary?
