Girl’s Injuries Lead to Father’s Arrest

A Los Angeles man was being held in lieu of $1-million bail Sunday on charges of attempted murder and child endangerment in connection with severe head injuries suffered by his 2-year-old daughter, a sheriff’s spokeswoman said.
Detectives on Sunday arrested Phillip Tyrone Young, 40. The girl, whose name was not released, was taken to King/Drew Medical Center by family members Saturday evening, according to Deputy Carrie Stuart. The child was in critical condition and was not expected to survive, Stuart said.
