A mall parking lot will be transformed into a farmers’ marketplace on Wednesday as green grocers, vendors and artisans peddle their wares at the first Northridge Farmers’ Market and Family Festival.
Southern California farmers will sell home-grown produce and plants from 5 to 9 p.m. each Wednesday in the parking lot between Macy’s and Borders at the Northridge Fashion Center, 9301 Tampa Ave.
The first 200 mothers who bring their children to Wednesday’s grand opening will receive a free fresh orchid strand.
The market is a member of the Southland Farmers’ Market Assn., a trade group that assists California farmers and consumers by developing and supporting certified farmers’ markets in Southern California, said Carolyn Olney, an association spokeswoman.
