State Official to Give Redevelopment Talk
- Share via
An information forum on redevelopment and how it can be used in a community will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Anacapa Middle School.
Peter Detwiler, staff director of the state Senate Local Government Committee, is scheduled to discuss the pros and cons of redevelopment.
Detwiler will discuss Measure A, the referendum on the Midtown Redevelopment Project Area slated to go before Ventura voters in June, and the passage of SOAR initiatives last fall. Detwiler will also outline other examples of redevelopment in California.
Detwiler has worked on the legislative staff since 1982. When he worked in the governor’s Office of Planning & Research during Gov. Edmund G. Brown Jr.’s administration, Detwiler helped create the state urban growth strategy.
The forum is sponsored by the League of Women Voters and the local section of the American Planning Assn.
