In a rematch of last year’s Southern Section Division V softball championship, Orange Lutheran beat two-time defending section champion Calvary Chapel, 4-1, in an Olympic League game Tuesday.

Jenny Miklos drove in two runs with a single, and in a two-run seventh inning, had a sacrifice bunt for Orange Lutheran (11-3, 3-0). Jessica Edwards (6-2) gave up only three hits and struck out 10. Calvary Chapel is 2-5, 0-2.

The Eagles still had not recovered from last week’s announcement by Rose Imbriano that she had resigned as coach, athletic director and teacher, citing personal reasons.

Imbriano was 70-17 as a coach, including this year’s 1-4 start.

“It’s been hard, a total shock,†said junior center fielder Lindsey Stice. “We’re the same team, we’re just as good [as last year], we just need to get mentally focused and more confident in ourselves.

“She was the motivation of our team. Now we have to dig inside ourselves.â€
