Cervenka Continues Stingy Ways in Crescenta Valley’s 1-0 Win

Sophomore Meredith Cervenka of Crescenta Valley High pitched a no-hitter, struck out 14 batters and walked five a 1-0 victory over Burroughs in a nonleague game at Olive Park in Burbank on Tuesday.

It was the second no-hitter and fifth shutout of the season for Cervenka (7-4), who has pitched 66 innings without giving up an earned run. She has 114 strikeouts in 72 innings.

Crescenta Valley (7-4) scored in the sixth when Melinda Moulden hit a line drive off the third baseman’s glove that rolled up the left-field line and allowed Danielle Proctor to score from second.

Newbury Park 3, Agoura 0--Katie Stokx (6-0) pitched a four-hitter, struck out seven and walked two for the Panthers in a Marmonte League victory at Agoura.

Oli Keohohou hit a solo home run in the sixth and a run-scoring single in the seventh for Newbury Park (8-1, 2-0 in league play).

Saugus 1, Hoover 0--Freshman Christina Gillman (2-0-1) pitched a two-hitter and struck out eight for the Centurions in a nonleague victory at Saugus.

Allie Walling of Saugus (3-2-1) scored from second on an error with two out in the fourth.

Cori Herbert (7-3) pitched a five-hitter and struck out 10 for Hoover (7-3).

Hart 1-2, La Reina 0-0--Lindsey Kontra (4-1) pitched a one-hitter with 16 strikeouts, and Amanda Fortune (3-1-1) pitched a two-hitter with 11 strikeouts to give the Indians (8-2-1) a nonleague sweep La Reina.

Camarillo 7, Oxnard 0--Alona Mendoza had three hits and five RBIs for the Scorpions in a Pacific View League game at Oxnard.

Meredith Nevard (4-0) pitched a one-hitter and struck out six for Camarillo (10-1, 5-0).

Buena 7, Ventura 1--Kimi Stetler hit a three-run home run in the second for the Bulldogs (6-7, 3-0) in a Channel League game.

Chaminade 1, Paraclete 0--Lindsey Weinstein’s run-scoring single in the seventh lifted the Eagles at Chaminade.

Maureen LeCocq pitched a one-hitter with six strikeouts for Chaminade (2-5-1).

Calabasas 12, Malibu 0--Sara Hall had three hits and two RBIs in for the Coyotes (7-2-1, 3-0) in a Frontier League game at Malibu that was called after six innings because of the 10-run rule.

Rio Mesa 1, Channel Islands 0--Crystal Lindsey’s squeeze in the ninth gave the Spartans a Pacific View League victory at Channel Islands.

Chanel Tripp struck out 17 and walked none for Rio Mesa (4-6, 3-2).

Louisville 8, Grove City (Ohio) 3--Mariel Garcia fielder’s choice grounder broke a 3-3 tie in the sixth and the Royals won at Tarzana Park.

Providence 7, Grace Brethren 6--Ciara Contreras hit a two-out, run-scoring single in the eighth and the Pioneers (9-1) won at Grace Brethren.
