Body Part in Block Seems to Match Slain Boy
A body part encased in concrete that was discovered in a La Habra backyard over the weekend appears to match the dismembered remains of a boy found nearby last year, authorities said Tuesday.
But DNA tests are needed to positively identify the pelvis, which neighbors found Saturday behind an abandoned nursing home, coroner’s officials said.
The discovery ignited speculation in the area that the concrete block was recently placed at the site, suggesting the killer of 12-year-old Juan Delgado is still at large. Six other blocks containing Delgado’s remains were found nearly a year ago.
Police, however, say their only suspect is John Samuel Ghobrial, 28, a resident of the neighborhood who has been in custody awaiting trial on charges that he sexually assaulted and murdered the sixth-grader.
