Judges will start scouting neighborhoods and business districts April 17 to find properties that gleam with pride, city officials said. The judging of 16 residential and three commercial districts vying for City Pride awards will run through May 2.
Residents and business owners need only worry that the exterior of their buildings and the landscaping around them are in “exemplary condition,” said Kurth Nelson, who is running the campaign for the city. Businesses such as Ganahl Lumber, Garden Daze and South Coast Supply are offering discounts to residents in the contest. Winners will be honored at a televised reception May 20 at City Hall.
