Farming, Gardening Focus of Free Course

Ventura County high school students interested in farming and gardening can participate in a six-week program this summer at Ventura College and the Hansen Agricultural Learning Center.

The Growing Academy will provide students with hands-on training in vegetable and greenhouse production, landscaping and agricultural practices.

The free academy will take place from 8 a.m. to noon Mondays through Thursdays from June 28 to Aug. 5. One unit of college credit will be offered.

The academy is sponsored by the University of California Hansen Trust and the University of California Cooperative Extension.
