Brooks USA’s Long Beach Grand Prix Auction. April 17, 6:30 p.m. (Cars and automobilia available for viewing April 16 and 17, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.). Long Beach Convention Center, 300 E. Ocean Blvd.
The inaugural L.A.-area automotive auction from the U.S. subsidiary of Britain’s Brooks Auctioneers Ltd. will be held in conjunction with the Toyota Grand Prix. It will feature vintage sports and racing cars.
Cost: Purchase of an auction catalog ($35 plus tax) admits two people to the viewing sessions and auction.

Christie’s International Motorcars will hold its first L.A.-area auction in conjunction with the Petersen Museum’s California Classics weekend. More than 40 vintage, classic and collector cars will be offered.

Newport Beach Collector and Classic Car Auction. May 22-23. Newport Dunes Resort, 1131 Back Bay Drive (at Jamboree Road), Newport Beach.
The major auction of classic and collectible cars, run by the Kruse Classic Cars organization, usually has a slate of about 300 vehicles, from vintage brass-era motorcars to modern sports and luxury cars.
