Man Jailed on Suspicion of Attempted Murder
One man was in critical condition and another was jailed for investigation of attempted murder after a shooting at a Granada Hills home, where police said they found a small-scale crystal methamphetamine lab.
Police said Ronnie Kugler, 32, of San Fernando, was shot twice in the upper body during an argument at a small blue house in the 11000 block of Haskell Avenue, a neatly groomed street near the San Diego Freeway.
After being shot, Kugler stumbled to the house next-door--through an alley and backyard--and into the living room of a startled Edward Nunez Jr., who lives there.
“We didn’t have the backdoor locked, so he just came right in and next thing you know, there was this guy sitting on our couch with a bullet wound in his stomach,” said Nunez, adding that he did not know Kugler.
Nunez quickly called police, who sent Kugler in an ambulance to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills.
Police said that when they searched the house where Kugler had been shot, they found no one at home, but discovered equipment and materials that were part of a small crystal methamphetamine lab.
Police pulled over a car in the neighborhood driven by Donald Callender, 32, of Northridge, who they suspected shot Kugler, said Det. Malena Heissel.
Callender was arrested and booked on suspicion of attempted murder. His bail was set at $1 million.
He was accompanied in the car by Tracy Seminerio, a 40-year-old Sylmar woman, who was arrested on an outstanding misdemeanor charge.
Police said Kugler and Callender were probably visiting the home, a rental property, where the shooting took place.
