It’s a Great Day to Play 3 for Chapman
Chapman won three games in the Sun West softball tournament Monday at El Camino Park in Orange.
The Panthers (19-1) opened with a five-inning 8-0 victory over Whitworth (Wash.). Leslie Prochaska drove in three runs, including an RBI double in Chapman’s five-run third inning.
In the second game, Linsey Buendia pitched a three-hitter, striking out eight and walking one as the Panthers defeated Lewis & Clark, 3-1.
Chapman then defeated Bethany (W. Va.), 13-0, in the final game. Prochaska had three more RBIs and Dawn Lopez had a two-run homer for the Panthers.
In the UC Irvine Spring Invitational women’s tennis tournament:
Oregon 5, UC Irvine 2--Jonni Seymour defeated Adeline Arnand, 6-7, 6-4, 6-1, and former Woodbridge High standout Natalie Exon defeated Janice Nyland, 6-2, 7-6, to earn the Anteaters’ only points of the semifinal match.
In nonconference women’s tennis:
Cal State Fullerton 6, Akron 3--The Titans (8-8) started off with No. 1 and 2 singles victories by Elenor Luzano, who defeated Arianna Rojas of Akron, 6-2, 6-4, and Amy Medlin, who won 6-4, 6-2 over Miren Sorondo.
Luzano teamed with Summer Tantee to take No. 1 doubles, 8-1 and Medlin and Brooke Lacey beat Rojas and Sorondo, 8-6 in No. 2 doubles. Akron is 8-5.
