SEASON AT A GLANCE: Jones was a catalyst for Santa Clara, which went 9-0 in the postseason and won the Southern Section Division V-AA and state Division V titles. The 6-foot-4 Jones, who signed with UC Santa Barbara, averaged 26 points in the postseason and rebounded well.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: Jones capped an impressive playoff run and high school career by scoring 32 points in the Saints’ 75-68 victory over Modesto Calvary Temple Christian in the state Division V final. Jones scored 13 points in the third quarter to help Santa Clara overcome the foul trouble of teammate B.J. Ward.

YEAR: Junior
SEASON AT A GLANCE: Herbert has returned to form after being hampered by a leg injury throughout her sophomore season, when she finished 10-8 with only 139 strikeouts and a 1.35 earned-run average. She had 246 strikeouts has a freshman.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: Herbert was chosen most valuable player of the Hoover tournament after three dominating performances. She allowed one hit against Eagle Rock, then hurled consecutive no-hitters against Costa Mesa Estancia and Burbank to lead Hoover to the title. Herbert, who had 45 strikeouts in the tournament, also threw a two-hitter last week against Eisenhower.
