Jackson’s Decision on Presidency Looms
Civil rights leader Jesse Jackson will announce Wednesday whether he will make a third bid for the presidency next year, his son, Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-Ill.), said in Washington. The announcement will be made on his son’s campaign Web site, www.jessejacksonjr.org, at 8 a.m. EST. Jackson tried and failed to win the Democratic presidential nomination in 1984 and 1988. He has said that regardless of whether he enters the 2000 White House race, he intends to be active in registering voters and in determining the campaign issues.
