Cypress Power Display Overpowers Saddleback

Shaun Larkin homered twice and Gerald Laird hit a three-run homer as Cypress defeated Saddleback, 13-7, in an Orange Empire Conference baseball game Saturday at Saddleback College.

Adam Spiker also homered for the Chargers (16-3-1, 6-0). Garrett Estabrook (3-0) was the winner.

Chris Ridenour homered twice for the Gauchos, and teammates Jason Marian and Kyle Pierson also homered.

Fullerton 12, Santa Ana 10--Mike Caira drove in the winning run in the ninth inning for Fullerton, which trailed going into the ninth, 8-6. Ken Chenard picked up his fourth win for the Hornets (13-9, 2-4).

In the Golden West softball invitational:

Riverside 6, Golden West 1--Angie Melendrez scattered six hits and doubled. Golden West (10-9-1) dropped all three of its pool-play games. Golden West lost to Arizona Western, 6-1, and to Long Beach, 1-0.

Despite the losses, the Rustlers advanced to the championship round after two victories on Friday.
