Wrestling at 119 pounds, Simpson won the county’s only state title, defeating Arroyo Grande’s Nate Ybarra, 4-3. Trailing 3-2, Simpson scored a takedown at the buzzer after intentionally giving Ybarra a 3-2 lead with 49 seconds left. Simpson’s victory helped lead Brethren Christian to a fifth-place finish in the tournament, despite sending only three wrestlers.

He held El Dorado’s Ignacio Cid scoreless as the Eagles won their third straight title.
Ashkahn Moayedi/Soccer; Woodbridge/Senior
Scored the only goal of the game, leading Woodbridge to its second Southern Section title.

The center had 15 points and 13 rebounds, leading his team to the Division I-A title.
