Councilwoman Patricia L. Bortle has presented a $1,000 check from Pacific Bell to Friends of the Villa Park Library. The money will be used for the library’s Summer Reading Program. Every summer, children in preschool through grade 12 are invited to participate in the reading program to help them brush up on their reading skills, said Helen Richardson, library branch manager.

The theme for this summer’s eight-week program, which begins in late June, will be “Long Ago and Far Away.” The money from Pacific Bell will pay for reading incentives and a free paperback book for each participant. Information: (714) 998-0861.
