NEWPORT BEACH
The City Council’s airport subcommittee has recommended funding the work of several pro-airport groups, including the Orange County Airport Alliance, the Airport Working Group and Citizens for Jobs and the Economy.
Councilwoman Norma Glover made a motion to recommend that the council grant each group $500,000. But the committee, which includes Mayor Dennis O’Neil and Councilman Gary Adams, ultimately agreed to start with $50,000 grants for specific activities. The full City Council will vote on the subcommittee recommendation today.
The Airport Working Group, for example, plans to use the $50,000 to conduct surveys to gauge attitudes of people in various Orange County communities while Citizens for Jobs and the Economy will use its grant for local and federal lobbying efforts.
