2 Injured, 9 Arrested in Gang Incidents
A 14-year-old Thousand Oaks gang member remained hospitalized Saturday night with head injuries after an assault by members of a rival gang, sheriff’s deputies said.
The boy, whom deputies would not identify, was taken to Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks about 8:30 p.m. Friday after a friend called 911 and said the boy was bleeding badly, deputies said.
The victim was transferred early Saturday to another hospital, which deputies also would not identify. His condition was not known Saturday night.
Sheriff’s Sgt. Mike De Los Santos said the boy and his friend, a 15-year-old gang member, drove by a rival gang member’s house in the 600 block of Briarcliff Road.
Several rival gang members outside the house attacked the boys with rocks and bottles, De Los Santos said.
The 15-year-old also suffered minor cuts and was treated at Los Robles and released.
No arrests have been made.
A couple of hours after the attack, nine members of the Thousand Oaks gang the victims belong to were arrested on suspicion of throwing rocks at the Briarcliff house, deputies said.
Deputies jailed Edward Lara] and Emilio Chi, both 19; Alex Solis, 20; Robert Quintero, 21; Jorge Marve-Canul, 22; Imer Aba, 26; Raul Hernandez, 30; and two juveniles.
The seven men remained in Ventura County Jail on Saturday on $5,000 bail.
The two juvenile boys, 17 and 13, were taken to the county’s Juvenile Hall.
