WESTMINSTER
Julia Martinez, who has taught dance and volunteered in the community for 30 years, was honored as the Chamber of Commerce’s Citizen of the Year recently. As founder and instructor at Las Tapitias, Martinez has taught hundreds of youngsters and helped to preserve dances reflecting the Mexican heritage. She also has been involved in the PTA, Little League, Knights of Columbus and other community groups. The chamber also presented 10 public employees with Merit Awards for going beyond the call of duty in serving their community.
